Anthony Townsend, Chairman
Having studied engineering at Cambridge, Anthony has over 50 years’ experience in financial services in the City of London. He is chairman of Gresham House plc and recently retired as chairman of BMO Global Smaller Companies plc and Finsbury Growth & Income Trust plc. He is a Deputy Lieutenant of the county of Surrey and was chairman of the Governors of Cranleigh School from 2006-2016. He is one of the founding directors of Broadband for Surrey Hills Ltd.
Angus Denny, Director
Angus began his career as an engineer in the offshore oil industry and has since worked in the IT industry for many years. He has spent over 25 years with IBM, where he worked with clients across industry sectors including Defence, Banking, Oil and the Public Sector. Latterly he has run his own consultancy, advising clients on commercial aspects of IT. Angus holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Manchester.
Ian Durrans, Director
A native of Huddersfield – a proud Yorkshireman. Read metallurgy and material science at university then qualified as a chartered accountant. Spent 36 years at PWC specialising in due diligence on deals for private equity and corporates. Since leaving PWC in 2017, Ian has worked in various start ups and acted as a consultant on a number of PE deals. Keen sportsman – golf, gym, cycling, skiing and rugby – the latter sadly now watching only!
Sonya Graham, Director and Company Secretary
Sonya is one of the B4SH founding team and spent several years working for Virgin Media (formerly Cabletel and ntl) in project planning and management. The latter spent working with Operations on new business projects.
Sonya is the Director responsible for Administration and Customer Care. She leads our procurement process including relationship management with our key suppliers. She has overall responsibility for our CRM database which controls our customer contact process from enquiries through to installation and billing. Sonya is the first point of contact for our customer help line.
Sonya also has primary responsibility for all company secretarial and administration matters, as well as for the implementation of the Gigabit Voucher Scheme.
Tim Metson, Director
Tim Metson is a chartered surveyor and farmer. The family have been farming in the heart of the Surrey Hills since the 1950’s developing their herd of pedigree herd of Hereford cattle. Other enterprises include a high end mobile airstream catering business, the development of a 5* rated holiday cottage, wedding receptions and soon to be constructed a butchery to provide quality locally produced meat on a wholesale basis. From a professional real estate perspective Tim advises on all sectors of the market ranging from rural country houses, farms and development property through to acting as lead property adviser to a leading UK commercial property regeneration specialist. Tim is a trustee of Guildford Poyle Charities, a Director of Friends of the Hurtwood and also a director at Surrey Hills Enterprises CIC.
Jon Slater, Director
Founding Partner and Investment Committee Chairman of Fifty Renewable Energy. Chairman of the Investment Committee and is joint Chief Executive of TradeRisks Ltd. He started his career in finance at JP Morgan in 1989 and was latterly Managing Director and Global Head of Structured Credit Trading, developing and leading the bank’s Structured Credit Trading business, through to 2011.
Jon is a skilled derivatives trader with extensive professional experience in transaction structuring and risk management. He is accredited by the Financial Conduct Authority and holds a first class honours degree in mathematics from St John’s College, Cambridge.
